Students Should Consider All Methods Of Financial Help, Expert Advises

¡¡

Students in higher education have been urged to fully consider all the financial options available to them in order to avoid serious debt problems while at university .

Dr Margaret Noble, pro vice chancellor of Greenwich University, said that people currently concerned about the amount of money it will cost them to attend university should take the necessary time to find out about all the financial aid that might be available to them.

Dr Nobel’s comments came after research from the higher education facility revealed that 70 per cent of current A-Level students fear that choosing to go to university will mean being burdened with unmanageable amounts of debt .

Furthermore, the study indicated that 88 per cent of students are unaware of the fact that grants worth as much as £2,830 are available to those whose combined family income is less than £60,000.

"I think what I would advise young people and parents to do is find out about the support and look at the range of options in terms of accommodation and to look for support that will help them with their programme of study," Dr Nobel explained.

"There is a lot of help and advice there out but students need help to sort it out and work through it."

A recent study found that an increasing number of students are turning to term-time jobs in order to help cope with rising levels of debt .
